Introduction

Acknowledging that I’m no expert is the first step on my journey of self-discovery and education. I'm not yet at the point where I can call myself a social-justice warrior and activist, but best believe I’ll get there.

For now, I start by pleading to continue learning, and becoming a more engaged black woman. A multitude of emotions accompany this which I will explore, but until the we first accept the fact we have many reasons to be angry, and delve and find the root causes, we can never expect the world to see past that anger and understand our point of view. If we can't see past the anger, can any of really see at all?

To try and briefly summarise myself up:

• I am a PROUD first-generation immigrant , I've lived in the UK since I was a child
• I am still being raised (as much as I'd hate to admit) by a strong, wise,  beautiful single mother to whom I dedicate my life to 
• I'm an undergraduate (ironically I don't study English, Politics, Sociology, International Relations or anything that you probably will assume based on my posts in this blog)
• I rock my natural hair - Build your assumptions so I can deconstruct them later
• I'm dyslexic, though I found out about a year ago

This is a personal blog, my new therapy. If you find an element of healing or gain a better understanding of an aspect of my experience as a young black woman then my work will be complete. As I will continue to say I do not speak for Black people as a complete race. My words and my opinions are mine alone, though they may be shared by many or a few, they can never be taken as facts that represent billions of individuals with different experiences.
